Summer Vacation

We're home from our summer vacation in Long Beach Island, NJ. We had a great time together and the weather was extremely hot but no rain!
Here are my four girls in front of our vacation rental. Dee 17, Keira 10, Maia almost 7 and Bree 4... I can't believe how big they all look in this picture. My baby days are definitely done... I'm not sure how I feel about that.
We did so many fun things together. My mom and my aunt also had a rental there the same week so we could enjoy vacation together. We went to a sweet little Alice in Wonderland fairy tale show one night..
The show itself was short but cute ... the girls were able to go up onto the stage at one point. We were all really proud that Bree went up on stage as she is always so shy and afraid of stuff like that.
Afterwards, we went to a really fun place next door to have ice cream, Show Time. It is a place where you enjoy singing and acting while you eat ice cream. I would normally not enjoy this as I hate being put on the spot but I have to tell you it was the most fun we had the whole trip.
My usually quiet husband had a blast...
Everyone enjoyed too much ice cream...
We tried to share some too :)

Guess who got picked at our table to do a little dance? Daddy and Keira! Keira was so worried about it but she was a trooper and got up and did exactly what the waitress told them to sing and do...
It was HYSTERICAL watching Brian... we were almost on the floor we were laughing so hard.

I tried EXTRA hard to get photos of myself this trip... I am the one with the camera all of the time so it can be awkward taking photos of myself but I want to be sure the girls can look back and see me enjoying these moments with them too.
Keira got a special hat put on her head too.
Afterwards, Brian and the girls jumped on the back of this thing and had the guy ride them to the car. :)
We also did some shopping and Dee got a henna tattoo...

All of us got feathers in our hair...
We went to a fun beading store that the girls look forward to whenever we go to LBI...
They each made a pretty necklace to take home as a souvenir.

And BIG STUFF... Maia got her ears pierced as one of her 7th birthday presents! I can't believe how brave she was...
We've offered before but she was always not ready - this was her time I guess because she was sure.
I held her hand and the lady did each ear... I wondered if Maia would cry or not want to do the other ear but she was a trooper.
So pretty my love. Maia likes blue and it really compliments her... naturally, she chose blue earrings too.
We visited a beautiful lighthouse...
And climbed all the way to the tippy top...
I didn't realize how bad this would be for my claustrophobia problem... I had to stop numerous times and calm myself down....
The girls on the other hand were fine - but it was a big walk up.
The height didn't bother me - it was the feeling of being closed in and not getting enough air. As an adult, I've been struggling with this for awhile... but I pushed myself...
And I'm glad I did :)

The rest of our days were spent barbecuing and going to the beach - enjoying each other, puzzles, games, laughing and relaxing...
If we could all go through life like we were on vacation no matter where we were, we'd feel relaxed - happy and free - each and EVERY day.
I'm going to try it.
